Privacy policy

In short
This website has no analytics, no advertising pixel, no user accounts and no newsletter. The only personal data it collects is what you type into the contact form. Nothing is ever sold or shared for marketing purposes.
One exception deserves your attention: the project pages embed YouTube players that start automatically, which means your browser connects to Google as soon as the page opens (see the “Embedded YouTube videos” section below).
Data controller
Quentin Pelé, Sole trader (French “micro-entreprise” scheme) — 23 square Léon Bourgeois, 35000 Rennes
Contact: quentin.pele.fr@gmail.com
Full identification details are on the Legal notice page.
The contact form
What is collected: first name, last name, email address, subject, message, and the link to your files if you choose to add one. No other field is requested, and no data is collected without you typing it.
Why: to read your message and answer it, and if appropriate to prepare a quote.
Legal basis: steps taken at your request prior to entering into a contract (article 6.1.b GDPR); failing that, my legitimate interest in answering messages sent to me (article 6.1.f GDPR).
Who receives it: me. Technically, the message goes through Web3Forms (Web3Creative, India), a service that formats it and forwards it to me by email. Web3Forms states that it does not store users' form submissions and that its technical logs are deleted every two months; its servers are located in the United States. The message then arrives in my mailbox, hosted by Google (Gmail).
How long: the message is kept in my mailbox for 3 years after our last exchange, then deleted. If we end up working together, contract and accounting documents are kept for the legal periods (10 years for accounting records).
Required fields: the fields marked as required are the minimum needed to identify you and reply. Without them the form cannot be sent.
Embedded YouTube videos
The project pages embed videos hosted on YouTube. The player uses the youtube-nocookie.com address, which limits advertising cookies, and the videos start automatically, muted.
What this means for you: as soon as a page containing a video opens, your browser contacts Google's servers (Google Ireland Limited, and Google LLC in the United States) and sends them, among other things, your IP address, the page you are viewing and technical information about your device. Google may store information on your device to operate the player and count views. I have no access to any of this data and receive no statistics from it.
Legal basis: my legitimate interest in presenting my video work, which is the very purpose of this portfolio — the videos ARE the content of the site.
Transfer outside the EU: Google LLC is located in the United States and is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, the adequacy mechanism recognised by the European Commission.
How to avoid it: Google's practices are described in the Google privacy policy. If you would rather not be exposed to it, you can block the youtube-nocookie.com domain through your browser settings or a content-blocking extension: the rest of the site will keep working normally.
The “Follow me on Instagram” banner
When you close the banner at the top of the page, the site writes a marker in your browser's own storage (localStorage, key announce-dismissed) so that the banner does not come back. It is not a tracker, it never leaves your device, no one can read it but your browser, and you can erase it by clearing this site's data.
Because it only stores a display preference you asked for, it is a “strictly necessary” item and does not require consent.
Server logs
Like any website, the pages are delivered by a server — Hostinger International Ltd — which automatically records connection data (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser). These logs keep the service running and secure, and French law requires hosting providers to retain identification data for one year.
Legal basis: legal obligation, and legitimate interest in the security of the site.
What this website does NOT do
No audience measurement or analytics. No advertising or social network pixel. No user account, no password, no payment. No newsletter. No automated profiling or decision-making. Fonts are hosted on the site itself, so no connection is made to Google Fonts.
Transfers outside the European Union
Web3Forms (contact form): company based in India, servers in the United States. The transfer is covered by the data processing agreement and the European Commission's standard contractual clauses offered by the provider.
Google (embedded YouTube videos, and the Gmail mailbox that receives form messages): United States, covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
Your rights
You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive it in a portable format, and to give instructions about what happens to it after your death.
To exercise these rights, write to quentin.pele.fr@gmail.com. I will reply within one month. I may ask you for proof of identity if there is a reasonable doubt about who is asking.
If you believe your rights are not being respected, you can lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority: CNIL, 3 place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07 — www.cnil.fr.
Changes to this policy
This policy may change if the website changes (a new tool, a new feature). The date below always tells you which version you are reading.
